The price of these tubs is only slightly higher than buying the materials and making your own; it’s actually cheaper if you include the cost of special tools like a drill bit for drilling the holes. And here is the closer, at least for me: when making your own tubs you risk cracking the plastic while drilling, which is a risk that is completely avoided by these tubs. I ordered two of the large ones and am happily colonizing in them right now with no conams, which I know because I can see through the clear plastic. I don’t have to open the lids for a peek which helps protect the substrate from contamination prior to full colonization.

Needed to expand my set up by adding a tub with a different temp so cakes can move on to fruiting when ready while sluggish cakes continue to colonize.
