Pros:
  • Good clean substrate
Cons:
  • Bag too small
Seems good so far looks great. Only thing is I wish it had more room like bigger bags so I could mix colonized grain in to bag.

Thank you

Pros:
  • Easy to use
  • no contamination
Cons:
  • None at this time
I was skeptical about this substrate mainly because it didn't look like it had enough manure. I tried it right out of the bag, didn't add anything, just wet it with spring water. I also used the 5 grain spawn jars, the mycelium was ready in four weeks. I broke up the mycelium in about three inches of this substrate in a 12x10 fruiting chamber. I saw my first pins in 10 days. It's not been thirty days and it hasn't stopped pinning! I have harvested and dried so many mushrooms. Over four pieces of dried as I write this! More on the way! I have about two weeks left before my next spawn jars will be ready . So I never thought I would say this . I will probably need to kill the cake! There has been no break in the fruiting.. but my next batch will be the true test. I will use this substrate. The last time I fruited this strain I used a different product. One from Amazon. I used rice flour and a manure based substrate.. got two really big shrooms the first flush, three on the second and three on the third. No contamination.. just poor results. So I will use the same strain of spores, the five grain jar and this substrate. If I get more than 8 shrooms I will definitely know that the five grain jar and this substrate works the best!
