Wine cap, also called King Stropharia, mushrooms are large mushrooms with a reddish-brown cap. The gills change from pale, to grey, to a dark purple-brown color. They are commonly referred to as "garden giants" and can be colonized indoors and then transferred to a garden setting in the spring. Wine caps are also commonly found on wood chips in North America in the summer and autumn. They are great for grilling or can be sauteed with butter.
