This under-tank style heating mat uses liquid graphite to evenly heat the surface with no hot spots! Traditional heating pads use wires, which can lead to uneven heating and hot spots which can dry out your substrate. With infrared heating, it transfers heat through the solid objects and will not heat the air like traditional heat mats. This powerful heater only uses 28 watts of electricity but is equivalent to 200 Watts of heat. The adjustable dial allows for precise sustainable temperature control.

Temp range too high for hot climate

This product is very well suited. I do feel that it runs a little hot if you live in an already hot climate, in which case it puts the temperature range too high even at its lowest setting. However, this can be easily remedied by adding an extra layer of insulation between the pad and the terrarium. When used in cooler climates or cooler seasons, it is perfect.

I'm using this to germinate seeds, haven't used it yet for this purpose yet but I know it will work perfect as it holds a steady even temp. The mats made for germinating seeds off amazon got too hot and didn't hold an even temp where this one does...
