Growing Pearl White Oyster Mushrooms is a simple process that yields medium-sized, versatile mushrooms. These mushrooms grow quickly and mature to a bright white or light gray color. They are ideal for use in various recipes because of their size and flavor. Pearl Oysters thrive in temperatures between 64-77 degrees, but cooler temperatures are optimal. Belonging to the Pleurotus genus, Pearl Oyster Mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus var. pearl) are a common edible mushroom variety cultivated for their culinary uses. Their fan-shaped caps are typically gray to light brown and can grow up to 8 inches in diameter, often featuring wavy or ruffled edges. The stems of Pearl Oyster Mushrooms are typically short and thick, attached to the center or side of the cap. When cooked, these mushrooms have a mild, nutty flavor and a slightly chewy texture, making them perfect for stir-fries, soups, stews, and pasta dishes. They are also an excellent source of protein, fiber, and various vitamins and minerals, making them a nutritious addition to any diet.

This project was a lot of fun. After they started pinning they grew really fast. The kit is easy to use. I opted to grow mine right out of the side of the box. I think it would be super cool for kids because the growth is so abrupt you get to see it explode in size everyday.

I received two 5 pound Pearl White Oyster mushroom kits only 9 days ago. I started them the next day in my grow chamber (photos attached). And, I just finished eating my first flush for lunch today! That is a meal in just 8 days of starting them. Great healthy kits.

My growth chamber consists of a terrarium placed on top of a heating mat to keep the temperature inside at 68-74 F. My basement is cold. Humidity readings vary from 80-99 %. I use two cool white flourescent lights for illumination for 12 hours per day. I also have a small fish tank air pump that pumps into three air rocks which are submerged in about 1 inch of water in a large tupper which lines the bottom of the terrarium. Each mushrrom block also sits in its own smaller sized tupper with about 1/2 inch of water.

    Will order again soon!
