IMHO this is the greatest thing for a grower. Contamination even in a laboratory environment is hard to eliminate. A must-have for every growing enthusiast.

I live in a hot and humid climate that requires the AC to be on for most months of the year. I’ve always been concerned about airborne contamination because of this.



I have built a DIY still air box to help combat this issue. While I still use 70% alcohol, the MidWest Portable UV-C Light Sterilizer has given me the extra layer of sterilization that I was looking for.



During inoculation I first clean everything with alcohol. Then I pass the UV-C wand slowly over every part of the box, spawn bags, spore syringe and other necessary pieces of equipment.

I also use it to sterilize my monotubs, casing mix, spawn bags and ancillary equipment before starting the final stages.



I can say that I’ve never had a contamination issue (knocking on something wood)!



The Portable UV-C Light Sterilizer has several safety features to make it easier to use.



As a safety precaution, I purchased an inexpensive pair of UV-C blocking glasses.



Highly recommended if you have concerns regarding sterilization.

I have put this to use many times over the past few days. It seems to work really well for killing mold and bacteria. You can never have enough sterilization in mycology. Everything I have received from this company this far has been of excellent quality.
