Two-stage desiccant refill for drying mushrooms.
A refill of the same two desiccants used in our Easy Mushroom Drying Kit, in bigger 6 oz portions. Silica gel pulls moisture out fast at the start, and activated alumina keeps working after the silica gel is full. Blue indicator beads in the silica gel turn pink when it needs recharging, and both desiccants come back to full strength after an hour in the oven.

Activated alumina dries more slowly and keeps working after the silica gel is full.
Indicator beads turn from blue to pink when the silica gel is saturated.
Bake both at 250°F for about an hour and use them again.
Air-dry fresh mushrooms in front of a fan first.
Put both desiccants in the bottom of an airtight container and set the mushrooms on a screen above them.
Leave it closed until the mushrooms snap cleanly.
When the beads turn pink, bake both desiccants at 250°F for about 60 minutes, cool and reuse.

Ordered silica, turned out way to big. Not sure how to use it since there's no breathing holes. The picture on the site has no object beside it to compare size.
These work well. Mushrooms were dehydrated quickly. This is now my preferred method.

Thus product does an excellent job of ensuring the bringing of grown mushrooms to the mortal and pestil grinding stage. I use this after a dehydrator and have remarkable results!
